Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A widow was allegedly targeted in an attempted rape by three youths in the Salidanga Gram Panchayat area under the Gazole block of Malda district. The incident occurred late at night, creating tension across the locality. After the woman raised an alarm, locals rushed to the spot and managed to catch two of the accused while the third fled. The two were beaten by the villagers before police from Gazole police station reached the location.
Police rescued the injured accused and took them to Gazole State General Hospital. Due to the seriousness of their condition, both were referred to Malda Medical College and Hospital for further treatment. The third accused remains absconding, and a search operation has been initiated. The survivor was also taken to Gazole State General Hospital for treatment on the same night.
Following the incident, Gazole MLA Chinmoy Deb Barman visited the hospital and met the survivor. He heard her account of the incident. Police have registered a case and are investigating. The situation in the area remains tense, but under control.
